Sortera Technologies Raises $30.5MM Series C

Woden client Sortera Technologies has secured a $30.5 million Series C funding round led by RA Capital Management-Planetary Health

Sortera has developed an intelligent material sorting platform that utilizes artificial intelligence, data analytics, and advanced sensors to accurately separate non-ferrous scrap metal for high-quality manufacturing reuse.

Sortera engaged Woden to develop translate their complex, innovative technology into a simple narrative need to accelerate growth and align their expanding internal teams at  new facilities across the country.

The StoryKernel uncovered that as the world evolves, it is increasingly reliant on recycled materials produced by slow-moving legacy technology. Manufacturers face the difficult challenge of delivering the critical materials society needs while simultaneously answering strict sustainability and ESG commitments.

The narrative reframed Sortera’s AI technology not just as an industrial upgrade, but as the pioneer building a true circular economy by transforming end-of-life material.

“To have secured interest and commitments from globally recognized high caliber investors such as RA Capital Management, T. Rowe Price, Mitsubishi Corporation, and MGETS, along with our existing investors Assembly Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and Chrysalix, who understood the level of sophistication, effectiveness, and potential of our technology platform from the earliest stages, not only validates the importance of our technology for the domestic U.S. recycling market but its potential on a global scale,” said Michael Siemer, CEO, Sortera Technologies.

“This funding round affirms our contributions towards global sustainable efforts and will be used to scale our operations to commercialization, grow our team, and, most importantly, continue to provide high-quality upcycled metal materials to our customer base.”

After an on-site StorySeminar at Sortera’s headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Woden developed a StoryGuide to help Sortera apply this message across their shifting organization, ensuring new regional teams could communicate a unified vision to industrial suppliers and enterprise customers alike.
